Do you have an elevator pitch?

Can you tell people what you and your business does in 60 seconds or less?

I’ve worked with clients for many years, some of whom had their elevator pitch down to a fine art and others who achieved it with some coaching.

It forms an important part of my media training workshops as it has relevance for more than one audience. If you can’t explain what you do to a simple way, how will a journalist – or prospective client – know you’re the expert in your field?

Here are some of my top tips for a successful elevator pitch:

  • Don’t make it too long – people have short attention spans. Keep it to 60 seconds or less
  • Test your pitch out on family and friends. If people outside your industry don’t understand what you do, you need to revisit it
  • Keep it jargon-free. You never know who is in the audience so make it accessible for all
  • Make your last line memorable – what is the number one thing you want people to remember?

Do you need help to define your elevator pitch? If you'd like to learn more, please send me a message for a no-obligation discussion.
