During my career, I have set up and ran businesses, coached, mentored and supported staff within Recruitment, Sales and Hospitality. However, the principals remain the same throughout any business: Business Analysis, Strategy, Project Management & Transformation are all key processes, along with the most important of all Communication.
Life and Business go hand in hand, like a marriage! Your personal life must be fulfilled to empower your business, your business life must be working to empower your personal life, it's called balance. As individuals if we are not balanced in both areas, it's TOXIC!
Think of a Marriage, there is no communication, all STAKEHOLDERS are doing their own thing within the project, working to their own timelines, turning up when necessary, grabbing lunch, doing their bit, then going home....... do you get the picture? Yes, I purposefully turned this marriage into a business scenario, as the principles remain the same.
Anyone entering marriage or setting up a business needs to self-check first......Are you carrying baggage......basically do you like yourself? Do you believe in yourself? Do you value yourself? Are you angry with the world?.......Are you living in FEAR, are you anxious? These factors will hinder any relationship, business & personal. Once your structure - foundations are laid with the key ingredients, it will all flow, and come together.
I wrote an article last year called a 'Quick Fix', this was to emphasise that a quick fix can be costly, recruiting the wrong staff because you need to fill a gap, or signing that contract at a lower margin because you want the business now, or even worse marrying someone, or being in a relationship because you don’t want to be on your own.......! Everybody does it, the culprit is called FEAR!
